ND Filter

For my birthday I got a Gobe ND1000 77mm MRC 16-Layer ND Filter.  It cuts out ten stops of light, so only 0.098% of the light is getting through.  I went to the beach to do a test shot and see what I might learn.

My lessons learned were;

  1. There needs to be a lot more motion in the subject than I found with the sea today, which was pretty still.
  2. The camera tends not to want to focus with the filter on.

Really I got it for waterfalls in New Zealand later in the year, but the test was fun and I'll try it out in other places before October.
