2018: Studio Lighting
During 2018 I want to get better at studio lighting. Mostly I use a couple of softboxes and a large ringlight for portraits.
Lighting (New)
Simon popped over today and I was incredibly grateful that he gave me some lighting equipment he never uses. I'm really going to try and master using it effectively.
Portraits and Lighting II
The lights arrived this morning. Sadly you can only chain two together rather than four so I need to plugs rather than one. They put out an okay amount of light.
There's no way to hold them properly at the moment but I figure (light stands aside) that i'll get some double-sided velcro to attach them to some sort of frame.
In the interim I borrowed Max's face and got him to hold two of the lights either side of his head. I then focussed and put it on a ten second timer. I then held the other two.
It seems on first go to give quite a pleasant overall light.
Portraits and Lighting
I like to take portraits (click on the images below to work through a few i've taken) but I can never seem to get the lighting right to my satisfaction.
Last night I was watching the first in a series of videos by the excellent Phearn on putting together a cheap three light set up.
I'm going to give it a go and report back on how it pans out.
